Drivers allow your hardware to communicate with your Operating System properly. Old or – even worse – missing drivers may make that communication less fluent, slowing down your PC’s performance and making your mouse, keyboard, or Wi-Fi connection to fail from working. Driver Booster scans your computer looking for drivers that need updating, and downloads and installs all the latest drivers in one single operation.
The program comes wrapped in an attractive dark-colored interface. In order to gather information about the status of your system’s drivers, Driver Booster will perform a quick scan of your PC and will list all the existing drivers dividing them into two categories – Outdated and UpToDate. Up-to-date drivers are there just for your information so that you can check the date of the version installed and learn more about how specific drivers work. The Outdated tab is the one that lists all those drivers that need fixing, labeling them as “old” or “extremely old” depending on their version date.
Updating all your old drivers is basically a one-click operation. You can uncheck first those drivers you don’t wish to update presently or just let the program to go through all your outdated drivers in one go. The “Update Now” button will launch the entire download and install process, which will typically require you to boot your computer in order to make some of the changes effective.
Unlike many other free versions of similar tools, Driver Booster does download and update your old and missing drivers properly and without restrictions. It is true that, in return, it will try to add to your desktop a couple of extra tools during the installation process, but in a polite and non-intrusive way. Just read the messages before clicking on any “Accept” or “OK” button to make sure that it only installs the tools you want.
Driver Booster comes in two flavors – Free and Pro. If you just require a program to check and update your drivers every now and then, this free version is all you need. It is fast, efficient, and reliable. If you need to have your drivers monitored and updated constantly, you’ll need to upgrade to the Pro version, which will also back up and restore your drives automatically before updating and will search in a much larger database for rare and outdated drivers.
Detects and fixes all those deleted and broken entries in your Windows registry.
